Welcome to CORE Winston Salem! CORE stands for Community Organized Research and Engagement and is a collaboration between community members in and around Forsyth County, NC, and researchers at the Wake Forest Claude D Pepper Older Americans Independence Center. We aim to develop a set of tools that will help to broaden the socioeconomic diversity of our local healthy aging research efforts.
This website provides an updated view of our mission statement and our team, offers access to Community Engaged Research resources, and provides information on current projects. CORE members can also access important files and other member resources here.
What are Others Doing?
CORE is not the only group interested in strengthening ties between researchers and the communities in which they live. Use the button below to check out what others are doing.
Learn About our Community
The Wake Forest Pepper Center resides in Winston Salem, North Carolina, and engages with communities in and around Forsyth County (and well beyond!). CORE members represent these communities.
Learn About our Research
The Wake Forest Pepper Center began in 1992, and has focused on research on healthy aging. Researchers are interested in understanding the causes of changes in physical and mental abilities over time, and in improving health and well-being through changing lifestyle behaviors like physical activity.
